LONDON – The new Superman movie is ready to hit global screens on July 9, introducing a fresh face, thrilling action, and a message of kindness. Actor David Corenswet, known for roles in Hollywood and The Politician, takes on the iconic role of Clark Kent and Superman in this much-anticipated reboot.
Speaking at the London red carpet premiere, Corenswet said wearing the red cape for the first time gave him a massive boost of confidence. “When the cape goes on and flows behind you, you feel like you’ve truly stepped into the role,” he shared with excitement.
Directed and written by Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker James Gunn, the film represents a bold new vision for the DC Universe. Gunn said he aimed to blend comic book elements with cinematic legacy, while making Superman a symbol of kindness in a world full of negativity.
“It’s a movie about kindness,” Gunn explained. “Superman may seem old-fashioned or overly good, but today, that kind of character is more powerful than ever.” He added that the story is packed with action, space battles, robots, flying dogs, and massive monsters to keep fans thrilled.
The film also stars Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men, About a Boy) as the villain Lex Luthor. Hoult said he drew inspiration from comic books like All-Star Superman, aiming to portray Lex as a dominant, alpha-level intellect and rival.
Brosnahan praised the legacy of Lois Lane and highlighted how Gunn’s love for the characters brings something fresh to the story. “He’s taken them on a different kind of adventure, with new friends and new challenges that make it feel modern and meaningful,” she said.
