Saudi and Indonesia unite for Gaza peace, seal $27B in mega deals

Published on: July 3, 2025 3:36 PM

Saudi Arabia and Indonesia have called for an immediate end to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. In a joint statement, they condemned the use of starvation and blockade by Israel. They also rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians, calling it a clear violation of international law. Both countries urged the global community to take real steps to stop the crisis. They emphasized holding Israel accountable for actions against civilians.

The statement came after Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah. They led the first meeting of the Saudi-Indonesian Supreme Coordination Council. Both leaders agreed to hold the council’s second meeting in Indonesia. They also approved plans to improve cooperation in many areas, including energy, trade, and investment. Their talks focused on building a stronger and long-lasting partnership.

During the visit, private companies from both nations signed deals worth $27 billion. These agreements cover clean energy, petrochemicals, and aviation fuel. Both sides praised the strong economic ties between them. Over the past five years, their trade volume reached $31.5 billion. Saudi Arabia is now Indonesia’s top trading partner in the region.

They also discussed joint plans for energy security and green development. Indonesia praised Saudi Arabia’s leadership in global energy markets. They agreed to work together in oil supplies, refining, and petrochemicals. They will also partner in renewable energy, electricity, and energy storage projects. Both nations aim to boost technology sharing and local industry growth.

Lastly, the two countries promised to deepen cooperation in defense, security, digital economy, tourism, and food security. They also plan to expand air travel links and ease travel rules for airlines. Their joint efforts will help fight terrorism, improve cybersecurity, and increase military coordination. President Prabowo’s visit followed an invitation from Saudi King Salman.
