A ceremony for the distribution of assistive devices to people with disabilities was held at the a Muzaffargarh District Council Hall, organised by the Social Welfare Department. Deputy Commissioner Qurat-ul-Ain Memon and Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education Ajmal Khan Chandia attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Memon said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz had demonstrated a motherly approach to governance by taking swift and meaningful steps across various sectors. “Very few leaders achieve so much in such a short time,” she said, adding that today’s event had been dedicated to people with disabilities, who, despite their challenges, are gifted with many talents. She said the assistive devices would help ease their daily lives.
Parliamentary Secretary and MPA Muhammad Ajmal Khan Chandia said the government was actively supporting people with disabilities. “Maryam Nawaz has given them a sense of dignity and belonging. Under her leadership, the Social Welfare Department is undertaking revolutionary initiatives,” he added.
Deputy Director of Social Welfare shared that a total of 82 wheelchairs, 28 canes, 14 walkers, and 6 crutches were being distributed at the event. He added that in the current fiscal year, the programme would continue, and mobility scooters would also be provided.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik Khair Muhammad Budh urged philanthropists to join hands with the government in supporting such causes. “People with disabilities deserve our attention and care,” he said.
The ceremony was also attended by Umm Kulsoom Sial, Malik Javed Akhtar, Nazim Baloch, Deputy Director Akram Taklir, Assistant Director Muhammad Amir, and other officials of the Social Welfare Department. Recipients of the assistive devices expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the support.
