Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly criticized the Taliban-led interim Afghan government for failing to honor its international commitments. He said these broken promises are causing serious instability across the region, and called on the Taliban to fulfill the terms of the Doha Agreement made with the international community.
Speaking at a national conference in Islamabad, Bilawal emphasized that terrorism remains a global challenge, and no single country can defeat it alone. He reminded the audience that Pakistan has been on the frontlines of the fight against terrorism for over two decades. The country has endured tremendous human and financial losses, and continues to carry out aggressive operations against militant groups.
Bilawal highlighted the significant role played by Pakistan’s armed forces, especially during operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad, which dismantled major terrorist networks. He also pointed out that digital propaganda and online radicalization are now becoming dangerous new threats, calling for international cooperation to address these evolving forms of extremism.
He made it clear that Pakistan has never bowed to terrorism. “We never invited terrorism, but when it came, we didn’t surrender — we fought back,” he said. He urged the world to acknowledge and respect Pakistan’s sacrifices, not just in words but through action. He stressed that Pakistan’s identity, its passport, and its resolve should be globally recognized.
On India, Bilawal took a more diplomatic tone, saying that India should learn from Pakistan’s experience in tackling terrorism. He expressed Pakistan’s willingness to work with India on counterterrorism efforts. “Let’s sit and talk about Kashmir, water, and terrorism,” he suggested, offering a path forward based on dialogue instead of hostility.
