Pakistan’s youth netball team has advanced to the semi-finals of the Asian Youth Netball Championship 2025, staying undefeated after a strong 49-39 victory over the Maldives in their final group stage match on Tuesday. The match, held at Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium in South Korea, confirmed Pakistan’s place at the top of Pool B with a perfect 10 points from five games.
The Green Shirts started strong, winning the first quarter 14-12, but the Maldives fought back and led 26-24 at halftime. Pakistan regained control in the third quarter (35-32) and closed the game with a confident finish. The team’s consistency across all quarters showcased their strength and tactical discipline under pressure.
According to the new format introduced by Netball Asia, the top four teams from Group A (Gold Cup Division) and Group B (Plate Cup Division) will compete in cross-group semi-finals. Pakistan will now face Japan again on Thursday, July 3, after a dominant 79-39 victory over them earlier in the tournament.
The standout players in Tuesday’s match included Leya Raza Shah, Alisha Naveed, Sumayya Kouser, Haleema, Jasmine Farooq, and Farah Rasheed, who contributed heavily to both offense and defense. Senior officials from the Pakistan Netball Federation praised the team’s unbeaten group run and celebrated their entry into the knockout stage.
Pakistan’s journey so far includes a powerful 71-15 win over Saudi Arabia, a 56-32 triumph against Chinese Taipei, and a massive 91-6 blowout of South Korea. With 11 teams participating, the tournament—running from June 27 to July 4—is building toward a thrilling conclusion, and Pakistan is now a strong contender for the Plate Cup title.
