Nadia Hussain’s husband denied bail in Rs530 crore fraud case

Published on: June 30, 2025 3:31 PM

The Sindh High Court on Monday rejected the bail plea of Atif Khan, husband of popular model and actress Nadia Hussain, in a high-profile Rs530 million bank fraud case involving a private company. The court also adjourned further proceedings until July 21, 2025.

During the hearing, Atif Khan’s junior lawyer requested a postponement, stating that the lead counsel was unavailable due to other commitments. However, the court, led by Justice Mahmood A. Khan, decided to proceed with the case and hear bail pleas of all three accused together on the next date.

Atif Khan remains in judicial custody, while two other co-accused, Imtiaz and Faisal, had earlier escaped from the court premises during a previous hearing. They later secured interim protective bail from the Sindh High Court to avoid arrest. In contrast, Nadia Hussain’s own bail had been confirmed earlier, as she is not a primary accused in the fraud.

The case revolves around a large-scale bank fraud allegedly committed through a private company, where the suspects are accused of embezzling over Rs530 million using fraudulent documents and financial manipulation.

After her husband’s arrest, Nadia Hussain posted a video on social media, accusing officers of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) of demanding bribes. Following this, the FIA filed a case against her under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). However, she later clarified that her video was based on a fake phone call she received and that she did not intend to malign the FIA. She stated she was unaware that the call had come from a scammer, not an official.

The case has drawn significant public attention due to the celebrity status of Nadia Hussain and the serious financial allegations involved. All eyes are now on the July 21 hearing, when the court is expected to decide on the bail applications of all three key accused.
