Lahore – Legendary actor Tauqeer Nasir praised actresses Sajal Aly and Hania Aamir for their talent, but pointed out a clear gap in their careers — strong directorial guidance.
Speaking on a recent episode of Suno TV, Nasir reflected on his own journey into acting. He revealed that he was inspired by Waheed Murad, but unlike the romantic icon, Nasir built his career on intense and aggressive roles. He emphasized that while Murad was his inspiration, he never tried to imitate him.
During the candid conversation, Tauqeer Nasir expressed disappointment over what he described as a loss of respect for senior actors among today’s younger stars. “In our time, when a senior walked in, everyone stood up out of respect,” he recalled. “We stood for actors like Qavi Khan not out of fear, but deep respect.”
He noted that today’s young generation often lacks this sense of reverence, and mutual respect in the industry has diminished.
When asked about today’s top female talents, he named Sajal Aly and Hania Aamir as “brilliant and promising.” However, he highlighted that their potential is not being fully realized due to a lack of quality direction. “Most directors today focus on screen aesthetics instead of nurturing an actor’s skill,” he said.
Nasir added that this trend hurts even the most gifted performers, and both Sajal and Hania would benefit greatly from working with directors who challenge them artistically and refine their craft.
