(Web Desk) – Renowned Pakistani actress Maria Wasti has revealed the reason behind her long break from acting. Known for her powerful roles since the 1990s, she has starred in many hit dramas like Boota From Toba Tek Singh, Ashiyana, and Malkin, earning praise for her talent and on-screen chemistry.
Recently appearing on Dunya TV’s Mazaq Raat, Maria opened up about her decision to step back from regular TV appearances. She explained that taking a break was necessary for her and that she values quality scripts over simply staying busy.
Maria said, “There is plenty of work, but quality is often compromised. As actors, we want layered, well-written characters that allow us to truly perform.” She emphasized that current dramas lack complexity, and many roles follow repetitive, shallow patterns.
She highlighted the need for stories that reflect the many sides of a person’s life, such as being a son, father, or husband. “Each role shows different layers of personality, but the scripts rarely explore this depth anymore,” she said.
Her honest thoughts have struck a chord with fans who admire her dedication to meaningful storytelling. Though taking time off, Maria remains committed to choosing projects that offer real substance and depth, reinforcing her belief in quality over quantity.
