Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to signing a new two-year deal with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, keeping him at the club until 2027. This extension means Ronaldo will continue playing past his 42nd birthday, defying the usual retirement age for footballers.
The news comes just days before his current contract was due to expire. This marks a surprising change from his recent social media post where he declared “the chapter is over” after the season’s final Saudi Pro League game. Despite that, talks are now underway to finalize his stay.
Ronaldo’s commitment to Al-Nassr seemed uncertain when FIFA President Gianni Infantino suggested he might join a team for the upcoming Club World Cup. However, Ronaldo declined offers, showing a strong desire to remain in Saudi Arabia.
Since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has been highly successful, scoring 99 goals in 111 matches. He won his second straight Golden Boot last season, with 35 goals in 41 games. Besides playing, he is also considering future sports investments in the region.
After Al-Nassr parted ways with coach Stefano Pioli this week, the focus turns to Ronaldo’s contract extension. His decision will likely shape the club’s future goals both on and off the field.
