RAWALPINDI – An anti-terrorism court on Thursday extended the interim bail of Bushra Bibi, wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in cases related to the November 26 protest demonstrations.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah presided over the hearing of 12 cases filed against the former first lady. Although she did not appear in person, her attendance was recorded through a court-issued notice.
The court adjourned the hearing until July 10 and ordered the police to submit the challans (charge sheets) in all related cases on the next date. Lawyers from both sides have also been directed to present their arguments during the upcoming hearing.
Meanwhile, the court also postponed the hearings in May 9 and GHQ attack cases until July 3, adding further legal pressure on PTI leaders and supporters involved in those incidents.
Earlier this week, the Lahore High Court rejected Imran Khan’s post-arrest bail petitions in eight May 9-related cases. His lawyer claimed the charges were politically driven and emphasized that Khan had condemned the violence.
However, the prosecution argued that the attacks on military installations were part of a pre-planned conspiracy, allegedly directed by the PTI founder. The court sided with the prosecution and denied bail, intensifying legal troubles for the party’s top leadership.
