ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s National Security Advisor (NSA) attended the 20th meeting of Security Council Secretaries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states held in Beijing, China.
During the summit, the NSA delivered a key speech reiterating Pakistan’s stance on the global and regional situation. He emphasized Pakistan’s ongoing contributions to peace and security in the region. Moreover, he met with SCO leaders to strengthen bilateral ties and security cooperation.
The NSA stressed Pakistan’s strong desire for a stable and peaceful neighborhood. He highlighted Pakistan’s role as a Net Regional Stabilizer committed to promoting harmony and resolving conflicts through dialogue.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, praised Pakistan’s positive role in diplomatic forums, including the United Nations Security Council. He acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to support peaceful solutions for regional security challenges.
Ambassador Jiang also met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the regional security situation, especially recent developments in the Iran-Israel conflict. The Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming SCO Summit and ongoing Pakistan-China cooperation.
PM Shehbaz highlighted the strong “All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between Pakistan and China. He underlined the importance of projects like ML-I, the Karakoram Highway realignment, and Gwadar Port operations. The Prime Minister also appreciated China’s financial support, which has helped stabilize Pakistan’s economy.
Finally, Ambassador Jiang briefed the Prime Minister on preparations for his visit to China at the end of August 2025, aiming to ensure the success of the upcoming SCO Summit.
