LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday dismissed all bail pleas filed by former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan in connection with the May 9, 2023 violent protest cases.
A two-member bench, headed by Justice Shehbaz Rizvi, announced the reserved verdict, rejecting eight separate bail petitions. The judgment was reserved a day earlier after the court heard detailed arguments from both the prosecution and defense.
The cases relate to the violent protests and widespread damage that broke out across the country following Imran Khan’s arrest in May last year. Protesters reportedly attacked military installations and government buildings.
The FIRs against the PTI chief include serious charges such as inciting violence, vandalizing state property, and disturbing public peace. Authorities claim that Khan’s speech and instructions played a key role in sparking the unrest.
This ruling deals another blow to Khan’s legal battle, as he continues to face multiple cases linked to political unrest. PTI has yet to release an official response to the court’s decision.
Meanwhile, security around the LHC was heightened during the hearing, as political tensions remain high in the wake of ongoing legal proceedings against the former premier.
