Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has signed two Pakistani cricketers for his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). The two players are experienced fast bowler Mohammad Amir and emerging off-spinner Mohammad Usman Tariq. Their inclusion is expected to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming CPL 2025 season.
According to Indian media reports, Mohammad Amir brings rich CPL experience, having already played four seasons in the tournament. He has taken 51 wickets in 39 matches at an impressive average of 18.09. Known for his deadly swing and control in the death overs, Amir is likely to play a key role in TKR’s bowling attack this season.
On the other hand, Mohammad Usman Tariq is set to make his debut in West Indies conditions. The young off-spinner made headlines during PSL 2025, where he impressed with 10 wickets in just 5 matches for Quetta Gladiators. His CPL debut is seen as a big opportunity to prove his talent on an international T20 platform.
Shah Rukh Khan, apart from being a global film icon, owns several cricket franchises around the world. Trinbago Knight Riders is one of the most successful teams in CPL history, having won the championship four times. The team is now aiming for another title with the help of new international signings.
Notably, while Pakistani players like Amir and Usman can play in CPL and other leagues, they are still barred from participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan.
