Indian film bodies call for ban on Diljit Dosanjh over collaboration with Hania Aamir

Indian film unions have called for a complete ban on singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3. The move has triggered heated debate, with film bodies labeling the collaboration as “betrayal” during a sensitive national time.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) strongly condemned the casting of a Pakistani actress in an Indian production. They demanded a boycott of Dosanjh and the film’s producers, urging distributors and entertainment platforms to sever ties with the team.

Sardaar Ji 3 producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu clarified that the film was completed long before the recent India-Pakistan tensions and is only scheduled for release abroad. However, the explanation failed to satisfy critics. AICWA accused Dosanjh of working with someone they labeled a “terrorist,” while FWICE equated the casting with promoting anti-India sentiments.

AICWA released an official statement claiming that casting Hania Aamir, despite the recent Pahalgam terror attack, questioned Dosanjh’s loyalty to the nation. The organization demanded that all Indian film houses, music companies, and event organizers cut professional ties with him.

Meanwhile, FWICE president B.N. Tiwari warned that any attempt to release the film in India would be blocked. He also announced an official letter banning all of Dosanjh’s upcoming songs and films. Additionally, FWICE requested Prime Minister Modi to take immediate and strict action, calling the collaboration an insult during a time of national mourning.

Despite the backlash in India, Pakistani celebrities have praised Hania Aamir’s appearance in the film. They hailed it as a landmark moment and an example of artistic collaboration beyond borders. The Sardaar Ji 3 trailer, released on Sunday, features Aamir in a lead role and was shared by Dosanjh on social media without any public explanation.
