Power was restored in the Makran Division after electricity from Iran was abruptly cut off on Sunday around 12 PM, according to the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO).
QESCO spokesperson confirmed that areas such as Turbat, Hoshab, Panjgur, Gwadar, Dasht, Pasni, and Ormara were reconnected through the National Grid. Electricity is being restored phase by phase as grid stations begin supplying power to local feeders.
Makran’s three districts—Gwadar, Kech (Turbat), and Panjgur—normally receive up to 200 megawatts of electricity from Iran. The sudden disruption prompted emergency switching to the national system to avoid a prolonged blackout.
Meanwhile, QESCO officials have opened communication lines with Iranian authorities to address the issue and restore the original supply. The cause of the cut-off has not yet been publicly disclosed.
The spokesperson assured that once Iranian electricity is restored, the region’s power situation will stabilize. Until then, local power distribution will continue via the National Grid to minimize disruptions for residents.
