NSC condemns attack on Iranian nuclear sites, terms it violation of international law

The National Security Committee (NSC) of Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities. It declared the strikes, reportedly carried out by Israel, as a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The NSC met in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Senior ministers and military leadership attended the meeting. They reviewed the growing tension in the Middle East following the US and Israeli military actions against Iran.

In its official statement, the NSC said that Israel’s aggressive actions have worsened the regional situation. These moves have increased the risk of a larger conflict and reduced the space for diplomacy and peace efforts. The committee expressed regret over the disruption of constructive Iran-US dialogue.

The committee reiterated that Iran has the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. It also raised concern over the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, calling them violations of IAEA resolutions and established international norms.

The NSC reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent stance in favor of dialogue, peace, and respect for sovereignty. It also extended condolences to the Iranian people for the loss of lives and emphasized that diplomatic solutions must be pursued by all stakeholders.
