Israeli airstrikes kill 10 IRGC members in Yazd amid rising tensions

At least 10 members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Sunday in the central province of Yazd, according to Iranian media. The attack marks one of the deadliest strikes on Iranian soil since recent hostilities began.

Although Iran has not officially responded to the reported deaths, the semi-official Tasnim News Agency confirmed that several others were also wounded in the attack. These strikes are part of a broader Israeli operation that has intensified since June 13, reportedly targeting top Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists.

Israel has not formally acknowledged the Yazd operation. However, Israeli sources claim that nearly two dozen senior Iranian military leaders and scientists have been assassinated over the past ten days. Among them are high-ranking officials like IRGC chief Hossein Salami and aerospace commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh.

Meanwhile, Iran has retaliated using its powerful Kheibar Shekan missiles, aiming at strategic Israeli targets, including Ben Gurion International Airport and military research centers. These counterstrikes are part of Iran’s Operation “True Promise 3,” launched after U.S. involvement in earlier attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites.

According to Human Rights Activists (HRA), over 950 people have been killed and more than 3,450 injured in Israeli strikes across Iran. These include 380 civilians and over 250 members of Iranian security forces, making the escalation one of the deadliest in years.

As the conflict deepens, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has appointed new commanders, including Ahmad Vahidi as the IRGC’s new chief. However, with the region on edge, international observers continue to call for restraint and urgent diplomatic intervention.
