ISTANBUL – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, held a key meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ summit on Sunday.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Dar conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message of goodwill to President Erdogan and appreciated Türkiye’s continued support for Pakistan on regional and international issues. He also highlighted the importance of deepening bilateral ties between the two brotherly nations.
Both sides agreed on the need to strengthen Pakistan-Türkiye relations across multiple sectors, including defense, trade, and diplomacy. They reaffirmed their commitment to long-term cooperation and expressed determination to work closely on issues of mutual interest.
The leaders also discussed the growing regional tensions between Iran and Israel. They stressed the importance of diplomatic engagement and urged all parties to avoid further escalation. They called on the global community to step up efforts for peace and stability in the region.
A major focus of the discussion was the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Pakistani and Turkish leaders strongly condemned Israeli aggression and demanded an immediate halt to the violence. They also called for uninterrupted humanitarian aid to reach the people of Gaza.
Foreign Minister Dar congratulated President Erdogan on successfully hosting the OIC meeting and praised him for receiving the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum award, acknowledging his leadership in the Muslim world.
