Iran fired 20 missiles at Israel on Friday, targeting cities like Beersheba, Tel Aviv, Haifa, and the Negev. Two people were injured, according to Israeli emergency services. Iran said it used long-range and heavy missiles aimed at military and command sites.
In response, Israel launched airstrikes on several Iranian locations. These included missile factories, nuclear research centers, and air defense systems. Five people were injured in Tehran when a missile hit a building with a bakery and hair salon.
At the UN Security Council, Israel’s ambassador said the attacks would not stop until Iran’s nuclear threat is destroyed. Iran’s ambassador called the strikes a violation and warned that the U.S. may join the war. Iran also refused to hold nuclear talks while under attack.
The UN nuclear agency warned against targeting nuclear sites, saying it could cause massive radioactive harm. Iran said air defenses were active in Bushehr but didn’t confirm a hit. Israel later denied directly targeting the nuclear plant.
So far, Israeli airstrikes have killed 639 people in Iran, including top military leaders and scientists. Iran’s missile attacks have killed 24 people in Israel. As diplomatic efforts continue in Geneva, hopes for a quick peace remain low.
