CM Maryam launches more mobile clinics, vows free healthcare for all

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed her commitment to providing free medical treatment across the province, calling it her top priority. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the second phase of the Clinics on Wheels project, she emphasized that the government is determined to make healthcare easily accessible for everyone. She also inspected the newly added mobile units and personally handed over keys to the doctors who will run them.

The Clinics on Wheels project has now expanded to serve every district and urban area of Punjab. These mobile units are fully air-conditioned and function as mini-operating theatres on wheels. According to CM Maryam, over the past year, these clinics have treated around 10 million patients, and currently, more than 45,000 people receive treatment daily through this program. She proudly stated, “My dream of delivering people’s rights to their doorstep is becoming a reality.”

Medicines for serious illnesses such as cancer, hepatitis, and heart conditions are now being delivered directly to patients’ homes. CM Maryam praised the hard work of Health Minister Imran Nazir, the Health Secretary, and the Primary Health Department, saying their efforts made this success possible. She added that the number of mobile clinics has significantly increased from 245 units in just a few months, and this expansion will continue.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister noted visible improvements in public hospitals, especially in facilities like Mayo Hospital, which now provides modern treatment options. She announced that all government hospitals will offer free medicines, supported by a massive fund of Rs. 100 billion allocated by the government. This step aims to ease the burden on low-income families and ensure that healthcare is no longer a luxury.

Looking back, she acknowledged that during the terms of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, major work was done in the health sector. However, she criticized the last four years, saying that basic healthcare had become unreachable and the public’s suffering was ignored. Now, under her leadership, the government is working round the clock to reverse the damage and restore trust in public health services.

As part of the broader vision, CM Maryam promised that Clinics on Wheels will continue expanding, ensuring that no citizen is left behind. With these mobile clinics and hospital reforms, the Punjab government hopes to build a more equal and healthier society—one doorstep at a time.
