Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, chaired a high-level meeting today with representatives of the Pakistan Sugar Dealers Association to address the current situation of sugar supply and pricing across the country.
During the meeting, the minister emphasized the government’s firm commitment to ensuring that sugar remains affordable and available for all consumers. He highlighted the need for cooperation and transparency from the sugar industry in all matters, including production, distribution, and pricing.
“We will not tolerate any unjustified hike in sugar prices,” said Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain. “A joint effort between the government and stakeholders is crucial to market stability and to safeguard the interests of both consumers and farmers.”
The Sugar Dealers Association welcomed the government’s concerns and assured full cooperation with its policies. They agreed to support steps that ensure a steady supply and fair pricing in the market.
This meeting is part of broader efforts by the ministry to control inflation in essential commodities and promote fair trade practices in the food sector.
