Hamza Ali Abbasi clarifies: I never quit showbiz for religion, only took a break to understand Islam

Published on: June 18, 2025 1:58 PM

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has once again made it clear that he never quit showbiz for the sake of Islam. Instead, he took a break to better understand his religion, correcting the widespread misunderstanding about his decision.

Recently, Abbasi appeared on Mansoor Ali Khan’s podcast, where he discussed his past withdrawal from the entertainment industry. He explained that in 2019, he shared a 17-minute video clearly stating that he was not leaving showbiz but taking a temporary break.

In the video, Abbasi mentioned that he had found answers to some important questions about God, the Prophet, and Islam. To deepen his understanding, he decided to pause his acting career for some time. He never said he was quitting showbiz because of religion.

He pointed out that most people neither watched nor listened to his full video. Instead, the media ran headlines claiming that he left showbiz for religious reasons, which he says is incorrect.

After stepping away from acting, Hamza Ali Abbasi went to Dallas to study under scholar Javed Ahmed Ghamidi. There, he spent a year learning and found answers to all his spiritual questions.

Abbasi also shared that questions about God, the afterlife, and resurrection troubled him since his youth. Initially, he only believed 20% in life after death, but now he is fully certain that God exists, resurrection will happen, and the afterlife is eternal.

He further explained that, according to his learning, arts and entertainment are allowed in Islam. However, society often wrongly views Islam and the arts as opposing forces.

In conclusion, Hamza Ali Abbasi emphasized that he never announced quitting showbiz for religion. Instead, he took a thoughtful break to understand Islam better and is now clear about his beliefs.
