Pakistan has recalled some of its diplomats, non-essential staff, and their families from Tehran. The decision came due to the growing conflict between Iran and Israel. A Foreign Ministry official said this move was made for safety. However, Pakistan’s Embassy and Consulate in Tehran will stay open and continue working as usual.
The official explained that only non-essential staff and their families are returning home. Special arrangements were made for their safe travel. This step was taken as a precaution while the situation in the region worsens. Authorities are closely monitoring the developments.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has also helped its stranded citizens return. On Tuesday, 78 Pakistanis, including 47 students, returned through the Taftan border. In total, around 1,200 people have been brought back safely so far. Most were pilgrims and students affected by the war.
In recent days, 987 more citizens arrived home on 37 buses. On Monday, 268 Pakistanis were flown back from Basra through two special Iraqi Airways flights. These flights landed safely in Karachi and Islamabad. More efforts are underway to bring back others.
Tensions flared after Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion” on June 13. The strikes hit Iranian military and nuclear sites. In response, Iran launched missiles and drones toward Israel. The conflict has killed hundreds on both sides and continues to escalate rapidly.
