Punjab budget reveals major increases for CM office, governor house, and ministers’ offices

Punjab’s new budget shows significant increases in spending for top government offices. Documents reveal a major rise in funds for the Chief Minister’s Office, Governor House, and provincial ministers. The budget was presented in the Punjab Assembly just a day ago.

According to official records, the Chief Minister’s Office budget has increased by Rs. 230 million. It now stands at Rs. 1.46 billion. Similarly, the Governor House budget rose from Rs. 161 million to Rs. 1.537 billion—a sharp jump in yearly spending.

The budget for provincial ministers’ offices has seen the biggest increase—204%. It jumped from Rs. 350 million to a massive Rs. 1 billion. This shows a strong shift in how much the government plans to spend on administrative offices.

Moreover, Punjab Assembly’s budget increased by 47%. It went from Rs. 5.0172 billion to Rs. 7.38 billion. An additional Rs. 28.1 million was added to the budgets of 41 commissioner offices across Punjab. These increases suggest growing government expenses across various departments.

The Chief Minister’s Inspection Team budget also grew by 26%, reaching Rs. 212.4 million. These figures reflect the province’s overall budget of over Rs. 5 trillion, which also includes a 10% salary increase for government employees. The focus, however, on higher office spending has sparked public debate.
