US President Donald Trump has denied claims that he returned to Washington to push for a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Instead, he stated that the situation is much bigger and aims for a complete resolution of the conflict. His statement came after French President Emmanuel Macron claimed Trump left the G7 Summit in Canada to negotiate a truce.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Macron of being misleading and seeking media attention. He clarified that his return had nothing to do with a ceasefire. Trump warned followers not to trust Macron’s words, calling his assumptions entirely wrong. He insisted the real issue goes beyond just stopping the fighting.
During his flight from Canada, Trump spoke to reporters aboard Air Force One. He hinted that the US might send envoys to talk with Iran, including Steve Witkoff or Vice President J.D. Vance. Trump predicted that Israel is unlikely to halt its attacks anytime soon and said the world will know more in the coming days.
Trump repeated that he does not want just a ceasefire. He stressed he seeks a “real end” to the conflict, aiming for Iran’s full disarmament. According to him, temporary peace is not enough. Only a permanent solution will work. He said this approach would ensure long-term stability.
The ongoing aerial war between Israel and Iran began last Friday, following Israeli airstrikes. Over 220 people, mostly civilians, have died in Iran, while Israel has reported 24 deaths. Tensions in the Middle East have surged since Israel’s offensive on Gaza in 2023. Iran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful, while Israel, a non-signatory to the NPT, is believed to possess nuclear weapons.
