Amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, Pakistan has sealed its border with Iran in Balochistan. The crossings in Gwadar and Panjgur districts are now closed. The ban affects both pedestrian movement and fuel transport, which are suspended until further notice.
Officials said the decision was made to protect citizens from possible risks. The Gwadar Deputy Commissioner confirmed the closure of the Gabd-Kalato border point. People have been asked to stay alert and follow updates from local authorities for their safety.
Panjgur district administration has shut down all routes to Iran. Fuel movement across the border is also completely banned. The administration warned that the current instability in Iran could affect nearby areas, making the decision necessary.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that 450 Pakistani pilgrims have been safely evacuated from Iran. More citizens are being helped from Iran and Iraq. In a post on X, he said the government is committed to protecting all Pakistanis abroad.
The border closure comes after Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, hitting nuclear sites and killing key figures. Israel claims it wants to stop Iran from building nuclear weapons. Iran denies the claims and says its program is for peaceful use only.
