Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has started to recover after a large-scale outage disrupted access for thousands of users across the United States on Saturday, according to Downdetector.com.
At the peak of the outage, Downdetector recorded more than 10,000 disruption reports. However, by 7:42 pm ET, the number of complaints had dropped significantly to around 1,041, showing signs of system stability returning.
The outage tracking platform gathers data through user-submitted reports, which may not reflect the total number of affected users. Nevertheless, the sharp drop suggests that services were gradually being restored.
Earlier this year, Elon Musk acknowledged issues with the platform and vowed to improve its operations. In a recent post, he said he would return to working “24/7” on X, xAI, and Tesla, citing critical technologies being developed, including a Starship launch.
“As evidenced by the X uptime issues this week, major operational improvements need to be made,” Musk posted, signaling that system stability is now a top priority for him and his teams.
X has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause of the latest disruption. However, in a similar incident in March, Musk had blamed a cyberattack. Users now await more clarity as the platform continues its recovery.
