EU calls for calm as Iran-Israel conflict heats up

Published on: June 13, 2025 3:33 PM

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas called for calm after Israel struck Iran’s nuclear and military sites. She urged all sides to avoid further conflict. Kallas emphasized that diplomacy is the best way to solve the crisis. She also said she is ready to support efforts for peace. Her message came as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise.

Kallas spoke with Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar early Friday. Their conversation focused on the recent strikes and the urgent need to avoid escalation. The EU aims to keep dialogue open between the parties involved. This shows Europe’s concern about the growing conflict in the region. Officials want to prevent a wider crisis that could affect global security.

Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also called for restraint. She urged all parties to stop retaliation and lower tensions immediately. Von der Leyen stressed that a peaceful solution is more urgent than ever. She warned that ongoing violence threatens both regional and world stability. Her statement reinforced the EU’s call for careful action.

Both EU leaders highlighted the importance of diplomacy to ease the situation. They asked the conflicting parties to focus on talks instead of military action. This approach aims to prevent further harm to civilians and infrastructure. Their joint message signals a strong EU push for peace in the Middle East. The EU continues monitoring the situation closely.

EU strongly appeals to Iran, Israel, and others to act responsibly. The leaders warn that escalation could have dangerous consequences worldwide. They encourage all sides to work toward dialogue and peaceful solutions. The international community watches closely as the situation unfolds. EU leaders stand ready to help ease tensions and support diplomacy.
