Boxing hero Usman Wazir urges govt to back all Pakistani athletes fairly

Pakistani boxer Usman Wazir revealed that despite government announcements, he has yet to receive any promised rewards. He shared these insights during a recent podcast interview with host Mubashir Hashmi. Usman described boxing as the toughest sport, requiring major sacrifices, including strict diets and intense training.

Usman proudly stated he has won all 16 professional fights, with 11 victories by knockout. He urged Pakistan’s authorities to treat all sports and athletes equally, stressing that every player represents the nation and deserves fair rewards and recognition.

He emphasized that athletes from all regions and provinces should receive equal opportunities and support. According to Usman, this fairness will help discover new talent and raise the country’s overall sports standards. He called for justice and equal treatment for all sportspeople.

When asked about prize money from his recent win against an Indian opponent, Usman said he never focused on money. Instead, he invests any earnings in better coaching and training to improve his performance. Despite these efforts, he still has not received any official rewards or incentives.

Finally, Usman appealed to the government to establish at least one boxing academy in every province. He believes these academies will help nurture young talent and strengthen Pakistan’s future in boxing and other sports.
