Court sentences two to 94 years for volleyball match murder in Sargodha

A Sargodha court sentenced two men to a total of 94 years in prison for killing a player during a volleyball match in 2022. The court also fined them 20 million rupees, which will be paid as compensation to the victims’ families. This decision shows the judiciary’s commitment to justice in violent crimes.

Additional Sessions Judge Chaudhry Inaam Elahi announced the verdict after a detailed trial. The court acquitted a third accused, citing insufficient evidence and gave him the benefit of doubt. The judge emphasized fair judgment based on facts.

Police confirmed that the fine will help the family of the killed player and support the player who was injured in the incident. Compensation aims to ease the financial burden caused by the tragedy.

The violent incident shocked the local community as the accused attacked the players during a friendly volleyball game. The court ruling is expected to deter similar acts of violence in sports.

This verdict underlines the importance of safety and discipline in public sports events across Pakistan. It also highlights the role of law enforcement in protecting athletes and ensuring justice.
