ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar declared on Wednesday that India’s aspirations for regional supremacy have “collapsed in the face of Pakistan’s growing diplomatic influence.” He made the remarks at a press conference held in Islamabad, following his recent visit to China.
Speaking about the May 19 trip to Beijing, Dar explained that the visit was primarily bilateral but also included a trilateral meeting with Chinese and Afghan officials, held at Beijing’s request. The discussions aimed to strengthen cooperation on regional stability and address shared security concerns.
Dar revealed that during the meetings, Pakistan informed friendly nations about India’s baseless blame over the Pahalgam incident—a cross-border attack that India pinned on Pakistan without proof. “Our international partners appreciated our call for an independent investigation,” Dar noted, adding that China stood firmly with Pakistan and rejected India’s aggressive stance.
He further said that Pakistan responded within its legal rights to Indian provocations, and that its actions were proportionate and defensive. “Unlike India’s narrative of escalation, Pakistan acted with restraint and dignity,” said Dar. He stressed that Pakistan’s diplomatic conduct had earned praise globally, especially in multilateral forums.
Dar concluded by highlighting the contrast between Pakistan’s growing diplomatic credibility and India’s internal disarray. “In Delhi, there is confusion and finger-pointing,” he said. “They are rattled by our diplomatic gains, while the world sees Pakistan as a responsible regional player.”
