Lahore Qalandars have confirmed the signing of Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz for the remainder of PSL 10, following the departure of Sikandar Raza, who has left to join Zimbabwe’s squad for a historic Test match in England.
As Zimbabwe prepares to meet England in a rare red-ball match, Raza’s departure falls on a significant date in the cricket calendar. The Qalandars, who are set to play in the Eliminator on Thursday, have swiftly moved to secure a replacement, with Miraz expected to arrive in Pakistan shortly.
In an official statement, Lahore Qalandars’ team director Sameen Rana paid tribute to Raza’s impact on the team.
“Sikandar is like family to us. His energy, leadership, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting impression on the squad. While we’ll certainly miss him, we’re proud of him representing his nation in such an important match,” Rana said.
Raza, who has been an integral part of the Qalandars setup, shared an emotional message before his departure.
“It’s always tough to leave, especially when you’ve built such strong bonds. But playing for Zimbabwe in a historic Test is an honour I couldn’t pass up. I’ll be following every moment and backing the Qalandars all the way,” he said.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz is now permitted to participate in the Pakistan Super League after receiving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The 26-year-old off-spinning all-rounder expressed enthusiasm ahead of his PSL debut.
“This is a great chance for me to test myself in one of the world’s top T20 leagues. While it’s technically my second franchise league opportunity, I see this as a major step forward in my career. I’ve performed well in the BPL, and I’m confident I can contribute positively here,” Mehidy said.
Lahore Qalandars, having secured a place in the playoffs, will look to boost their campaign with the inclusion of the experienced Bangladeshi cricketer as they chase a third consecutive title.
