Curfew enforced in South Waziristan over rising security fears

Published on: May 18, 2025 2:16 PM

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN – Authorities have imposed a day-long curfew in South Waziristan on Sunday due to growing security threats in the area. The curfew will remain in effect from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, according to a notification issued by the district administration.

Officials confirmed that the road connecting Makeen to Razmak will be completely closed during the curfew hours. The closure aims to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain law and order in the region.

Residents have been strongly advised to avoid traveling on the Makeen-Razmak route and are encouraged to use alternate roads. Authorities have also asked citizens to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary movement throughout the day.

Deputy Commissioner of South Waziristan stated that the curfew is a preventive measure following intelligence reports about potential threats. He assured that security forces are fully alert and taking all steps to ensure the safety of the public.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have been deployed at key checkpoints and patrols have been intensified across sensitive areas. The administration has requested the cooperation of the public to help maintain peace and stability during this period.

Although the curfew is temporary, officials said they will continue to monitor the situation closely. Further updates will be shared based on how the security landscape evolves throughout the day.
