Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Punjab, Nabeel Javed, has announced that Revenue Punjab successfully recovered Rs. 5,529.618 million during the fiscal year 2022-23 through audit efforts. The announcement came during a key meeting chaired by the SMBR to review audit recovery performance. The meeting was attended by Member Taxes Zaman Wattoo, Secretary S&R Rana Hamid, and Additional Commissioners Revenue from all districts of Punjab. Addressing the participants, SMBR Nabeel Javed emphasized that the digitization of the Board of Revenue will pave the way for transparent recovery of government dues. He directed Additional Commissioners Revenue to ensure swift and efficient audit recoveries in their respective districts. The meeting also reviewed audit recovery reports from various districts. In a significant development, SMBR disclosed that a pilot project is being implemented in three districts, where naib tehsildars have been granted sub-registrar powers. This initiative is aimed at reducing the workload on sub-registrar offices and providing citizens with the added convenience of registering documents at both naib tehsildar and sub-registrar offices. He instructed the Additional Commissioners Revenue to monitor the operations of both sub-registrars and naib tehsildars to ensure absolute transparency. He stressed that no injustice towards citizens would be tolerated, and the district administration would be held accountable for any complaints. This initiative is expected to improve service delivery and enhance public trust in the revenue collection process.
