LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to establish 1,200MW gas power plant to meet growing energy demands. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif states this while presiding over a high level meeting here on Friday. Several matters pertaining to the project came under discussion during the meeting. Shahbaz said that the project had been devised keeping in view emerging energy challenges and needs of the country. He expressed satisfaction over numerous energy projects completed in a record period of time, and said that work on other energy projects was in progress. He said that there had been a considerable decrease in load shedding thanks to the timely completion of a number of energy projects. He said that the country would usher in an era of development and prosperity after the completion of energy projects. He added that the government had set a record of transparency in the uplift schemes. During the meeting, German experts assured the government of providing technical cooperation for new gas power project. Bernhard Stabel headed the delegation of German experts. Chairman P&D, Punjab Thermal Power Company chairman, energy secretary, officials concerned and German experts attended the meeting. Published in Daily Times, July 29th , 2017.
