KARACHI: It’s been a year since the officials of Sindh’s Anti Corruption Establishment started an inquiry into the result tempering probe of the pre-medical annual examinations 2016 conducted under the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi but the officials have failed to complete the investigation and review all the transcripts which they had seized, Daily Times has learnt. Initially, the ACE team from its West-Karachi’s circle raided in the BIEK on August 9th Last year. They took around 1100 transcripts in their custody allegedly with tempered results. However, ACE’s officials were not satisfied from that preliminary inquiry. Afterwards, they expanded its investigation and continued series of raids in the board till the end of 2016. The BIEK’s officials had forked out around 51,000 transcripts to the ACE’s officials for cross-checks on March 13th, 2017. Unfortunately, all such inquires from which the Board had suffered, are still pending included those 51 thousand grabbed answer sheets. “The ACE inquiries had disturbed the daily routine of BEIK even the Board’s employees were inquired again and again but we had offered full support and co operation to the ACE’s officials”, said Professor Inam Ahmed, Chairman of the BEIK, added that now it’s up to the ACE’s officials how do they collect evidences and present it before ACE’s court because the administration had given them all the legal and relevant documents. “Those scammers have been removed who were allegedly involved in the tempering of the results , which included IT Manager Shaheer Waqar, former Controller of Examinations Imran Cheshtia and Examination Section Incharge Atahar Saeed”, he pointed out. “I don’t know what was being happening before I joined the board as chairman last year” he expressed his unawareness about the previous situation while answering a question about cheating and tempering results. He added that after the completion of the inquiry they will take some tangible steps according to the Anti Corruption court’s directions. This year, BIEK has however conducted transparent examinations without having controller of examinations thus the Board’s officials has not received even a single complaint of tempering the results. The Board is operating smoothly and all the credit goes to the committed and conscientious officers of the board who have conducted in such a transparent exam in the BIEK’s history, he claimed and admired his present team. “Basically, ACE’s officials conducted the inquiry into the results tempering probe over the CM’s orders and as per rules, BIEK’s administration provided the answer-sheets. However, such an organized corruption will possibly be exposed after the completion of ACE’s inquiry”, said Ferozuddin Siddiqui, Central Leader of Sindh Lecturers and Professors Association (SPLA). “Results of the inquiry would not have affect the studies of student because each inquiry has a specific time limit”, said Siddiqui, added that it’s not so simple because new academic year 2017 has started and if the ACE official have found some students guilty whose results were tempered then how is it possible to rectify them as they have studied one year college education and as well entered in second academic of 2017. On the other hand, ACE’s officials are unable to investigate the probe on time. “We need some more time to investigate the case properly and recheck all these papers through fair process”, said Masroor Ahmed Jatoi, Assistant Director of Anti Corruption Establishment, Sindh. “I am the IO but can’t mention the timeframe for the completion of inquiries until I understand it fully”, he said, added that he has requested the concerned authorities to extend the date of completion inquiry till August 28.
