Sir: It was extremely disturbing to read about Punjab University Institute of Business Administration students setting up stalls to collect funds for the Taliban. These students also put up placards and wore t-shirts showing support for the religious extremist group. These are supposedly the more educated part of our youth, which the optimists hope will not fall prey to religious fundamentalism. How unfortunate, then, that we see them showing support for a group that has murdered hundreds of people to impose their brand of literalist faith. Do these students not watch the television news? Haven’t they lost count of the number of suicide bombings across Pakistan that have claimed thousands of lives? These pro-Taliban students really should know better. Their support for the extremists is an insult to the Pakistanis who have lost their lives in bomb attacks and an insult to our brave troops who are fighting this menace in the tribal areas. Shame on these pro-Taliban students! SAMINA YAQUBLahore
