Sir: I fully agree with the sentiments expressed in Nauman Afzal’s letter “Address the real issues”. (Daily Times, March 1) There is indeed a real need for our leaders from all political parties to set aside their petty politics and internal issues and concentrate on the real problems that are affected the lives of common Pakistanis. People cannot afford essential items, there is serious volatility in the economy and the terrorists continue to creep into our settled areas. This is one of the most troubling periods in the country’s history, but our politicians consider their internal bickering and egos to be far more precious than the survival of our beloved Pakistan. Could they not have waited for the economy to stabilise and for the security situation to improve? One can only hope that we produce some leaders in the near future that can display better judgement than the remnants of the politics we have seen over the last two decades. ZAFAR KHANPeshawar
