Sir: Yet again, we have been treated to a volley of comments from both Indian and Pakistani officials indicating that there is no progress on the dialogue process between the two countries and unlikely to be in the near future. This is a disappointing state of affairs, especially as a few months ago, indications were that things were moving along in a positive direction. In some instances, local political compulsions took over, and in others, there seemed to be a genuine lack of determination from the leaders. Both India and Pakistan need to show flexibility, instead of rigidity, because the only way to move forward and improve the lives of the people of South Asia is to compromise on major issues to seek resolution and achieve peace.NAUSHEEN KHANKarachi
