Sir: I am writing in reference to Yasser Latif Hamdani’s article, ‘Nation-building after Mohali’ (Daily Times, April 4, 2011). The author has mentioned that Sachin Tendulkar has claimed to be equal to Bradman. He is requested to kindly check the facts regarding the above claim from his side. It was Sir Don himself who had said in an interview to an Australian daily that Tendulkar is the only batsman in many years who resembles closest the way he played. Prior to this, Tendulkar or anyone else has never tried to compare Tendulkar with Bradman in any way. Even after this statement from Sir Don, Tendulkar was humble enough to say that this is the greatest honour he has received and there is nothing he cherishes more than being told by Sir Don himself that he resembles him. I would like the author to quote proper references of any statement made by Tendulkar where he states that he considers himself equal to Sir Don. DEVKANT SOMANI Mumbai, India
