Sir: Pollution affects our health and quality of life. Pollution has become one of the biggest problems of Pakistan and is destroying our beautiful country. If it is not checked, it can cause respiratory problems, cancer, lupus, immune diseases, allergies, and asthma, which can even cause death. The polluted water that we drink can cause typhoid, diarrhoea, stomach cramps and aches, vomiting, hepatitis and respiratory infections, reduced lung functioning, irritation of eyes, nose, headaches and dizziness and even premature death. It also affects the plants and animals living in our environment. It destroys marine life in lakes and streams. Even the soil gets polluted due to excessive use of fertilisers and pesticides. In short, various kinds of pollutions have extremely harmful effects on living things. Pollution can be reduced by using vehicles emitting less smoke, changing the oil of vehicles in time, planting more and more trees, using less fertilizers and using paper bags instead of plastic ones, etc. The government must also make some laws for controlling air pollution. It is crucial that everyone should be aware of what is happening to the land, water and air around us. To make the earth a proper place to live, we are all supposed to take part in making it a pollution-free place. MAHGANJ SHAD BOLANI Kech
