Sir: Regrettably, corruption is a big issue in Pakistan. The menace of corruption has got to all and sundry. Our public and private sector organisations, be it police, revenue, electricity, passport and immigration or other businesses, all are plagued by extortion, bribery and other forms of corruption. In such a dismal scenario it is indeed difficult to accept the explanation given by Transparency International (TI) in its recent report regarding the menace of corruption in Pakistan. It suggests that the corruption level has relatively decreased in Pakistan during the past five months of the current government in power. In Sindh, one finds that the provincial government lacks the political will to fight the menace of corruption. The truth is this that corruption is rising alarmingly in this country. The TI report is questionable. HASHIM ABRO Islamabad
