Sir: While our government is vigorously pursuing its regional strategic foreign policy along with security plans for eliminating the scourge of terrorism, it needs to be appreciated that it is robustly following other features of foreign policy as well. In this regard, an important event is the ministerial level round of strategic dialogue between Pakistan and USA, which is likely to be held this month. This round of the Pakistan-US Strategic Dialogue will currently cover five areas including security, the defence consultative group, law enforcement and counterterrorism. It is hoped that the deliberations of the counterterrorism working group will provide the desired facilitative assistance for eradicating terrorism and terrorist networks. It is further hoped that the Pakistani armed forces’ action along with the government’s strategic foreign policy will make this ongoing battle against terrorism an exemplary success.
