Sir: Another bomb blast occurred during the Friday prayers inside a central imambargah (mosque affiliated with Shia Muslims) situated in the heart of Shikarpur city. About 50 persons, including four children, were killed and scores more injured. Many of the injured died in local hospitals owing to the lack of specialist doctors and facilities such as oxygen gas cylinders, medicines and beds. This is not the first fatal incident of terrorism in Shikarpur. One was carried out against former MNA Dr Muhammad Ibrahim Jatoi, which he fortunately survived, while another happened at Dargah Mari Sharif, in which Gaddi Nasheen Syed Hajan Shah and four others were killed. The setting fire of NATO tankers also happened in the district four years ago. The presence of terrorists and possibility of attack anywhere in the district was undeniable but the Sindh government and law enforcement agencies ignored the situation. No security plan was prepared to face a possible terror threat. According to eyewitnesses, no security personnel were deployed at the gate of the imambargah for the security of worshipers. The incident took place due to a security lapse. SHAIKH ABDUL RASHEED Shikarpur
