Sir: As reported in the press, the government has approved nine mega development projects including the vital project of New Gwadar International Airport. The projects will cost Rs 105 billion in total and the Gwadar Airport project will cost Rs 26.6 billion, while China, Oman and Civil Aviation Authority will contribute to the cost. Gwadar Airport project is on the government’s priority list as it will facilitate the strategic partnership accord with China for establishment of an effective economic corridor. Other projects include Gorkhin-Matlitan hydropower project, Torkham-Jalalabad road and other several educational projects in Balochistan. It is to be appreciated that the government is sincerely pursuing its policy of development while fully exploring the promising hidden potential of our rich motherland. Growing economic ties with seasoned friend and a global economic giant like China shows that the government is actively pursuing its policy to strengthen vital strategic partnerships so that Pakistan’s foreign policy benefits national interests.
