Sir: I have been living at Askari 2 Flats at Chaklala Scheme 3, Rawalpindi, since 1993. One transformer is installed in my area to meet the electricity distribution needs of a couple of blocks of flats. For the past more than a year or so, one phase of electricity shuts down almost on a daily basis, thus disrupting the supply of power to a number of flat dwellers. There’s a lot of fluctuation as well because of the ‘unprofessional’ manner in which the connections are attached to the transformer. A complaint lodged in the morning remains unattended till the evening. Presently, one doesn’t need fans but there are other electrical appliances attached to this disruptive phase of electricity that can be damaged because of the apathy of the Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO) officials towards fixing this problem. We the residents have requested the complaints staff and the line superintendent a number of times to overhaul the transformer but they never bothered to redress our grievance. Having exhausted our patience, I find no other outlet to vent my anger except your esteemed newspaper, hoping that the chief executive officer of IESCO, federal and state ministers of the Ministry of Water and Power would order an action on our complaint. TALAAT KHURSHID Rawalpindi
