Sir: I was really saddened to hear the news about the removal of barriers from the streets and lanes of Karachi. Firstly, it is the duty of the law enforcement agencies to provide security to citizens. But unfortunately, people had to take certain steps on their own to make their surroundings secure. These steps mainly include approaching private security agencies and the placement of barriers and security guards on the streets. The citizens of Karachi have been ordered to remove barriers from their streets. I, as a Karachiite, want to ask the concerned authorities who will take the responsibility if a common man loses his mobile, cash or other accessories during snatching? And who will take the responsibility if a girl is harassed on her way to school or the workplace? I request the government, Rangers and concerned officials to take this order back and at least allow us to do something on our own for our security. KHAIR-UN-NISAKarachi
