Sir: I will not say that promoting the use of lawn by females or its marketing are unethical or extremely cruel. However, I would say that the advertisements of lawn about a range of fabrics that cost from Rs 8,000 to 10,000 are not only ridiculous and unethical, but also cruel. In a country where hundreds of people die now and then, people struggle to earn enough money to feed their families and a country where many remain unemployed, such advertisements make no sense. Should we not, by now, be able to prioritise our aims and goals as a nation? Is this mania of buying expensive lawns going to improve us? What impression are we giving when lawn prints are advertised on billboard after billboard? And how, even if we are advertising such expensive lawn prints, are we able to curb its after effects on those who are unable to purchase them?MARIAM REHMANVia Email
