Sir: Internationally, Balochistan is known for its backwardness while it has been facing many challenges simultaneously compared to problems in other provinces. According to a news report released by a US-based organisation, 0.28 million young Baloch are drug addicts. This shows the gloomy picture of the province. Territorially, Balochistan is connected with two neighbouring countries, i.e. Afghanistan and Iran, from where drugs are smuggled into Pakistan and regional smugglers use this province as a route for drugs trafficking. Drugs are openly sold and exported in huge quantity to various countries via Balochistan. There is a sense of foreboding that the upcoming generations would get involved in drug abuse. The government and concerned authorities, especially anti-drug forces are required to take stern action against drug peddlers in Balochistan.WAHEED HAIDERKech
