LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed provincial and district administrations to ensure effective implementation of the Punjab Marriage Function Ordinance at all level. During the first meeting of the special committee, formed by the chief minister to formulate institutional mechanism for enforcement of the ordinance, convened at the ACS Conference Room Civil Secretariat on Thursday, it was decided to set up special committees at district level to be head by deputy commissioner concerned. The additional deputy commissioner, municipal officer (Regulation) and SP security will be the members of these committees. “Such committees will also be constituted at tehsil level and regional level in the big cities which will be responsible to streamline consistent action and legal enquiries against the violators of the Punjab Marriage Function Ordinance in letter and spirit.” Furthermore, Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khawaja has directed police to apprehend owners of marriage halls and catering managers on account of violations like over timings, he aerial firing and serving more than one dish which is prohibited under the law. Lahore Mayor Colonel (r) Mubashar Javaid, Lahore Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Local Government Special Secretary Sarah Aslam, Additional Secretary (Admn) S&GAD Sahibzadi Waseemah Umer, SP Security Abadat Nissar and DSP Security Pervaiz Butt attended the meeting.
